Hello, all! I am back with another post after a good while! It’s been a while since I posted an art analysis, so here we go! I hope you will enjoy the read and the insight! “Upwards” (or “Upwards I”). Digital photograph. 2017. “Upwards in Neutral” (or “Upwards II”). Digital photograph. 2017. WHAT: This is a partial shot of a convention center in my town. The color shot is the original shot and…

TALENT AT TAPP’S: i am participating in a unique, cultural event

Hello, all! While I have been creating new works (which I will post about), attending some events (which I will post about) and basically going through the throes of life (some good, some annoying), I have tried to publish new posts once in a while until I get back into the full swing of posting to my blog as I once did (I do want to get back to regularly posting; I used to post about every 2 or…

BUSY-NESS AND BUSINESS CARDS: finally back with a new post!

Hello, peoples (I added that ‘s’ on purpose; bad grammar is fun but only when it is humorously on purpose, in any other case bad grammar is sad). I am back with a new post after 50,000 years. Well, not that long of course, but long enough! As any blogger will tell you, the absence is due to a combination of things. My combination is: being busy, being not-feeling-like-posting, being a…

I know I usually post about the visual arts here, but the following was on my mind:
Love is a sacred art. The love between a man and a woman is sacred. It is what God has created. The harmony of opposites working together; their different attributes working together to create a balance. Male and female. That is order. That is union. That is beautiful. I am just keeping it real. If you don’t agree with what I’ve written here, well then I pray you one day will. If you are a man, then you are a king and you should meet your queen. If you are a woman, then you are a queen and you should meet your king. 👑 👑

Looking for a new digital camera. I may be getting into more photography jobs through freelance. My last camera (a GE X5) was a birthday gift 🎁 and took beautiful photos; lasted a few years but now even with new batteries it doesn’t power on. I think my camera went into Digital Death; the land of device rest. Now if for some reason it can be gotten to work, again, then high-five! ✋ I’d still get new camera, though.
I believe I’ll get a Canon or a Nikon. Gotta dig pretty deep in the pockets for one of those, but it’ll be worth it. 💸📷💸 Good investment. We artists dream about art supplies and tools. I don’t know what I stare at more…a good looking guy or a drawing kit full of charcoals and graphites. ✏✏

HE IS VICTORIOUS: because of Christ’s victory, we do not have to be victims

Today is Resurrection Day, a time that recognizes the day Christ rose with all power in his hands! Many people are also now referring to this day as Resurrection Day. I do as well. More people are realizing that term “Easter” has nothing to do with the recognition of Christ’s resurrection. Easter is actually a pagan worship of a false goddess (the word “Easter” stems from her name). The goddess…

WHATWHYWHENHOW: Artwork Analysis 16

Hey, everyone. I am hoping you are well, safe and enjoying some art or something cultural, lately. Right now as I type, it is April 5th, Wednesday (so when I actually PUBLISH this post it will be Thursday because I want to post it early, right now it is too late on Wednesday; I do not like posting too late). It’s been a while since I’ve done an artwork analysis. Right now it is also raining…

I needed an official artist photo for some online endeavors, so I shot this selfie (I hate that word) a few years ago before moving to Jacksonville, FL the next year (2012). Wow, how the time goes (miraculously I look about the same, thank God). I miss Jacksonville. If you’ve never been there, GO! It’s one of the best places. I lived in a suburban area that was in the middle: 30-40 min. from the beach one way and 20 min. from downtown the other way.

Hi! Just a quick post about three works that are unfinished. I have so many ideas in my head that need to accomplished and lately I have had a big creative surge; like an art rocket has been strapped to me and is propelling me forward. Ha! That was pretty poetic, amirite??

TOP LEFT PHOTO: Graphite on paper.

I started this a while back and it is PAST time for it to be done! I have a lot of background work to do and color work. This one may take longer than the other two to finish. Can you guess who this is? Hint: he’s in a game people love, great at climbing, hunts and steals treasure, is about to have his story made into a film (FINALLY) and often says, “Oh, crap!!” and also, “Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap!!”

TOP RIGHT PHOTO: Mixed media on paper.

This is a new work partly inspired by awesome artworks I’ve seen by artists displaying their pieces on Instagram. I wanted to design a low-poly background. Originally I was going to show her complete face, but I did not like something about the right side (your left) of her face, so I decided to cover that portion of her face with low-poly structures. So now it’s got a post-modern look. In the art world, low-poly is hugely popular, now! Low-poly is so popular, now, that if low-poly was a girl it would probably get more boyfriends than Taylor Swift does. I have to finish adding more poly forms, more work to the hair (which is stylized in some areas with decorative line work) and color, then I’ll be finished.

BOTTOM PHOTO: Graphite on paper.

This is a mock logo for New Orleans. The city is not changing its logo, but this is my imagining of a new logo. The main symbol of NOLA is the fleur de lis. Behind that are the petals and leaves off the magnolia, which is Louisiana’s state flower. The acronym “NOLA” I have designed to be similar to the magnolia’s petals. This visual relation helps to bind the image together. I have to add color next and it should be done!

I will of course post the finished works! Thank you for reading!

UNDONE: works in progress

Low-poly art blending with realism. I wanted to try something very quirky (though, I am not new to quirky). Also, I disliked a part of the face (it was ugly!), so covering it up with poly structures seemed the way to solve that issue!
